Time for a spooky cocktail this Halloween

Halloween, shortened from All Hallow’s Eve, is a very popular event around the world, in particular in Ireland, the UK, Canada, United States, Puerto Rico and Australia. With nearly 120 million Americans dressing up* in costumes for Halloween, it’s no wonder that this day has become such a worldwide phenomenon commercially.

The origins of Halloween came from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samrain, where Celts marked the end of the harvest season. It was believed that this seasonal tradition was a bridge to the world of the dead, and people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. However, this holiday has since evolved from literal ghosts and ghouls and is now focused on community events and activities with a lot more merriment.

Nowadays, a traditional Halloween consists of an evening with trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and carving pumpkins. The family celebrates the evening by taking the children out trick-or-treating in scary costumes so they can enjoy some sweet treats. However, it’s not just children that can get involved in Halloween, as it can also be customary to host a fancy dress Halloween party for your friends. Here, you can serve up some creepy Halloween-inspired cocktails including Ketel One’s The Great Pumpkin.
